I probably misrepresented my idea since I ...David,
I probably misrepresented my idea since I completely agree with your last sentence.
The 'tension' I mentioned in the last paragraph was in grasping the fact that Hashem as 'nature' is indifferent to humans, and yet He also practices 'moral' providence. This difficulty is what, I believe, created paganism which sought to invent intermediating 'moral' deities.

Since God is "nature" then Madah deals with God's 'natural' providence. Unlike science, revelation doesn't teach us that there is Hashem, but rather that how to maintain a relationship with Him. As such, Torah (including the Creation story) deals with God's 'moral' providence. I do see both types of knowledge as complementary and in no case revelation can negate common sense or science, but only add a new level of understanding. The too common view that science can somehow contradict Torah, is based upon a misunderstanding of both.Eli Abramzonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06968173171056899599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6277826249751063069.post-91115457069778184162011-01-30T16:40:42.846+02:002011-01-30T16:40:42.846+02:00excellent posts.
An excellent presentation of the...excellent posts.

An excellent presentation of the idea that God IS and IS NOT nature.
Indeed religion should not be involved in discussing the existence of God but rather its relevance to us and how it affects the way we act. Where I am not clear in your presentation is why knowing science or Madah is separate from religion. Revelation is based on Madah and without it there cannot be true revelation. Revelation, the way to act, detached from reality is false revelation in my mind.
I may have misunderstood so please clarify.David Guttmannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07668302013143561290noreply@blogger.com
